Many adults want a straighter, more attractive smile. But, the idea of a mouthful of metal braces for several years is nothing to smile about. Today, you have a “clear” alternative to traditional metal brackets and wires – Invisalign. Drs. Thomas J. Rolfes, Christina T. Do, Cary J. Dunne, and Timothy J. Rolfes are trained, qualified, and skilled in fitting patients with Invisalign, a revolution in orthodontics, right in their Costa Mesa, California area practice. Straightening the teeth has never been easier with the use of Invisalign.
WHAT IS INVISALIGN?
This method uses a graduated series of as little as 10 comfortable, clear plastic aligners to gently move teeth with low pressure, according to a precise plan designed by us. The aligners are worn day and night except when eating and brushing your teeth. They are unobtrusive. Others will not even know you are straightening your teeth, while you talk and smile naturally.
The aligners can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing, allowing you to maintain excellent oral hygiene. Depending on your situation, you could have results in as little as six months. However, it is important for patients to understand that compliance with treatment is crucial to achieving these results without added costs or fabrication of more trays. Patients should wear the trays as directed to ensure they get the smile of their dreams!
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR INVISALIGN?
Invisalign may not be appropriate for severely crowded or badly misaligned teeth. And conventional orthodontics may be better suited to the growing mouths of children and young teens. Patients who are ready for a clear alternative to braces may want to ask about Invisalign. Patients who are the best candidates are those with mild to moderate misalignment of the teeth or bite. During an initial evaluation, our team of professionals will assess the smile and decide if a patient may benefit from this treatment.
If Invisalign sounds good to you, call Drs. Thomas J. Rolfes, Christina T. Do, Cary J. Dunne, or Timothy J. Rolfes to schedule a consultation. We will listen carefully to your dental concerns. We will show you some before and after photos to explain the process and help us understand your goals.
THE PROCESS OF RECEIVING INVISALIGN TREATMENT
Your initial visit is a complimentary visit to assess if you are an Invisalign candidate. Your second visit will include impressions of your upper and lower jaws, photos, and your case will then be sent to the Invisalign lab. Using computer imagery, the lab creates your custom aligners.
In about three weeks, we will fit your first set of trays and send you home with easy instructions for using the subsequent sets of aligners. At periodic return visits, generally every 6 weeks, we will monitor your progress using ClinCheck® computer technology. ClinCheck shows, with 3-D accuracy, the movement resulting from each stage of this controlled, carefully-timed force on your teeth.
In less time than you imagined possible, you will have the beautiful straight smile you always wanted! You will not believe the difference when you compare your before and after photographs! Many of our patients are extremely pleased with the results they achieve with proper compliance and are quick to share their smile with others! Patients who once felt embarrassed by their teeth feel much more confident in the appearance of their smile when they have undergone teeth straightening with Invisalign.
INVISALIGN VERSUS TRADITIONAL BRACES
Drs. Thomas J. Rolfes, Christina T. Do, Cary J. Dunne, and Timothy J. Rolfes of Smiles4OC want patients to know the difference between using traditional braces to achieve results versus revolutionary options such as Invisalign. Traditional braces often require the use of metal brackets and wires, which are glued to the teeth to provide movement. These can be uncomfortable, scratching against the soft tissues in the mouth. Additionally, metal brackets covering the smile can be unsightly, especially for adults who still want to look their best throughout treatment. With Invisalign, patients can wear the trays and others will be unaware that they are improving their smile every day! This discreet treatment is often chosen by adult professionals who don’t want to feel the need to cover up their smile. Traditional braces often require more appointments for the specialist to evaluate the smile and tighten the wires to get the results patients desire. These braces also make it difficult to keep the smile clean and healthy over time. With Invisalign, patients can remove the trays to make it simple to brush and floss their teeth, without having to work around metal. Patients who use Invisalign often have better oral health than those who choose to move forward with traditional braces. We encourage patients to think about the advantages of Invisalign before deciding to move forward with conventional orthodontics. Those who are a candidate for Invisalign will also find that treatment is comparable in cost with treatment through an orthodontist. It is essential for patients who are considering solutions for the realignment of their smile to speak to a professional and weigh the pros and cons with this revolutionary option versus more traditional means.
PRIMARY BENEFITS OF INVISALIGN
Patients love the idea of Invisalign for many reasons. It is:
Simple to use
Clear and discreet
Easy to remove
Better for oral health
