Huntington Beach area dentists may recommend veneers for cosmetic improvements of the smile
Cosmetic services are a popular option for many of the patients in our Huntington Beach community. Drs. Thomas Rolfes, Christina Do, and Cary Dunne and the rest of the staff of Smiles4OC want to make sure patients have access to many aesthetic treatments that can dramatically impact the smile. When breakage, staining, or even misalignment of teeth are an issue, our team may suggest solutions such as porcelain veneers.
Porcelain veneers, sometimes called dental veneers or facings, are a wonderful option for patients who have imperfections near the front of the smile on the anterior teeth that they want to quickly address. While some patients may steer towards dental bonding, a composite resin used in a similar manner, this is a more short-term solution that may be susceptible to staining. Porcelain veneers are known for lasting many years, sometimes decades, and will therefore hold their value better than dental bonding alone.
Porcelain veneers are made of ceramic that is matched with the color of the existing teeth. The teeth that need to be covered are assessed by our dental team and patients are examined to ensure they are appropriate candidates for porcelain veneers. If patients decide to continue with these facings, the teeth are prepared with the filing down of the front enamel. Impressions are taken and sent to a dental laboratory where the restorations are fabricated and then sent back to Smiles4OC. Patients return to our facility for bonding of their new restoration in place and will leave our practice that day with a more attractive smile!
